Christmas in Summer

Received a few of those nets they sell the Christmas trees in and went right to work. The nets have a silvery shine so they are great for clutches.


















But this time, there was also material with a little bit of blue in it. It was just sufficient to form the bottom of this beach bag. I lined the inside of the bag with potato nets to make it more sturdy. 

Shoe bags

Didn't know that shoe bags are needed until I started Scottish dancing. Now I see them everywhere.







 

Thread net

For embroidery the thread is quite slippery. They sell you nets to put around the spool. Well, here is a new use for your throw-away fruit nets!

While we are at it...

My father used to dig out the roots of the trees he felled, turn them around and "plant" them into the garden or the sitting room for decoration. When he died, bobbin-lacing one of them felt like the thing to do.

A guestbook for my sons wedding was needed. That got me into making notebook covers.

Still keeping it up with the potato nets.

It is a mindless stitchery and not very challenging, but perfect for relaxing after a long workday. It gets your mind right off things and you produce nice little things. I used some of them to gather tourist information about trips we took.

Pallet, clothespins and tapas forks

No nets this time. Pallet! We got into the Christmas mood at a garden center. My partner was inspired to build himself a snowy church which I did not want so that I designed Münster's town hall instead using all sorts of weird stuff for decoration. As much as I like re-using - the forks were new.

Fancy that

My daughter's old handbag was doomed. The color had faded and the pearl stitchery was missing beads. I still kept it, because it made perfect lining for another project. I was just about to make some new outside using nets and felt when I found shiny turquoise leather in my stock.
