Upcycled for you

Washed and trimmed, nets from the last collection await their users! Ready to use nets will be available in the exchange telefon booth at the AWM recycling yard in Roxel starting Dec 13. You will find:

- Nets for slippery yarns

- Multipurpose large nets

Someone's treasure

Last week I received word that the recycling bin at the AWM yard Eulerstraße was full again. Indeed it was - mainly due to a large green net. It is a first for me and I am eager to work with it! Thank you to all collectors!

Residues

There were only small amounts of material left, so it became handbags. The Christmas-tree-net silvery one stayed in Mecklenburg, where my collectors showered me with two washing baskest full of carrot nets.

Outdoor bobbin lace flower

The idea was to decorate neglected industry structures with colorful motifs. I tried flowers, but was not satisfied, especially after I saw the building decoration shown by Kruzhevnoy on Instagram: link 1, link2. Chapeau!

So, I opened it up again ...

The end of an exhibition

This is what it looks like when something great finds an end. Today all my exhibition pieces went home again. Well, not all of them: these five bags found a new owner and the donation went to the flood victims.

I need to thank Ricarda and Uwe for all their work in organizing the exhibition. They themselves are very creative; do check them out!

So, was it worth it? Yes, yes and yes! I found at least two more friends, at least two more folks who like what I do, at least two more admirable artists,  and at least two more collectors of my favored trash. And, although I am not so active in the social media - there was increasing activity at my, admittedly, pretty meager profile.

Thanks everybody for your interest!

Sylt art inspired

This June I visited the Sylt Art Fair which presented great works of artists unknown to me but also, to my amazement, of Miro and Hundertwasser. Among them - digital overlays of photographs by a German stand-up comedian, which baffled me. I consider myself more of a craftswomen than an artist, but this, I figured, I could do. And so I used my vacation to create wall decorations with a story to tell in time with the F24 exhibition.

This huge gear was about 3 m in size and surrounded by pretty blue and yellow light during an award ceremony at an industrial location where I photographed it. On top went a clutch made from Christmas tree net.

The fly eyes I found in Münster's natural museum and overlayed them with a bobbin lace shopper.

And finally, the buoy heap seen on Sylt was topped with a knitted bag.

Press echo

Trash kid's happy moment

In the garden corner of a hardware store I found this silver net in a trash bin and they allowed me to take it.

Washed and "combed", it is ready to become Something...

Vernissage Aug 22, 21

It was a heartwarming, wonderful Sunday afternoon for me, organized by Ricarda and Uwe from F24 Kulturverein. I had my family with me and met new people interested in my "trash", which was really lovely. Thank you all!

And one bag sold for the good cause (victims of the flood) already!

Here is a small impression...

Why are you doing that?, I am often asked.
The perfect answer is a rhyme by Heinz Erhardt (sorry, in German):

Ballade aus Estland

Im alten Schloß zu Weesenstein,
da solls des Nachts sehr finster sein.
Warum so finster grad bei Nacht?
Das hat man nicht herausgebracht.

Wenn es des Nachts dort Zwölfe schlägt,
der Klöppel zwölfmal sich bewegt.
Warum es grad zwölf Schläge macht,
das hat man nicht herausgebracht!

Ein Dichter, dem dies ward bericht',
der machte darauf ein Gedicht.
Warum er das Gedicht gemacht?
Das hat noch niemand 'rausgebracht!

Zusatz von mir:

Unsere Tante Trine hier,
die sammelt Müll, auch ohne Bier.
Warum sie dies Gemüll gemacht,
das hat noch keiner rausgebracht.😀

We have hung the exhibition in F24 yesterday. It was quite a challenge!

Too lazy...

... to finish the video. I have collected how-to material for this bag, but do not seem to feel like getting the video assembled. Here is at least part of it.

Exhibition in F24, Münster

It is so great - F24 cafe exhibits both upcycling work and some traditional bobbin laces.

Making videos takes  time and I have not gotten around to finish this one yet. The pictures are the reminder.

Dots & Rings visit - living art

On June 13 I visited the exhibition and found - again - the  colourful crochet rings had gone missing. I am really curious to know who likes (or hates) them so much that he/she gets a ladder to remove them. I do hope that the riddle will be resolved one day.

The other rings aged and weathered as expected but were also adopted by a cryptic sprayer. They now proudly sport some numbers and/or letters: As far as I can make out it is two 4s and a 1 or Z. Wikipedia offers you an explanation for 144 with regard to the year. §441 is a law of the BGB to negotiate a price and §414 another one. 44Z is a measure for the chain wheel on a bicycle and Z44 a dry gin. If you google 4Z4 you get all sorts of parts and a video for an off-road truck

On the other ring set I found J i K, if the J is meant to be a J. Wiki offers an explanation for IJK, but for any arrangement of the letters you will find multiple meanings.

So, explanations for the intended abbreviation are greatly appreciated. Do come forward, anonymous artist😀!

Munch in net

One-way net colors fit the painting, so, here is Munch's Cry in net. That was great fun - despite the actually sad topic.
